Ken Lewis

President and Director of Training

Ken Lewis, President and Director of Training at the Prevent-Prepare-Protect Training and Consulting (P3TC) and the President of the Texas Handgun Association.

He is a Range Master, Firearms Instructor, NRA Training Counselor, NRA Practical Pistol Coach Development Staff, NRA/USA Shooting Shotgun Coach, Training and Shooting Range Consultant, a college professor with active security, military, and law enforcement experience, and formerly a National Shooting Sports Foundation Range Action Specialist. Recognized as an expert witness and subject matter expert he is often called to review and testify in training and use of force.

His experience includes emergency management and disaster response, working with numerous employers and enterprise-level corporate customers to manage and minimize risk through the application of periodic assessments, intelligence, and threat management techniques. After retiring from 24 years in the US Air Force, and prior to joining the National Protective team, he was the Range Program Manager at UXB International Inc. and Concept Planner with AMEC Earth and Environmental. Mr. Lewis is the principle operational adviser in development of RATPAC™. He has held leadership and management doctrine positions, and worked a broad range of specialties throughout his career, e.g. communication systems, facility maintenance, law enforcement/security, Emergency Service Teams (SWAT), small arms training and repair, Secret Service Presidential security, and instructing/teaching intellectual and mechanical skills. Mr. Lewis has extensive experience in project and program management. 

Noted speaker, writer and an Eagle Scout, he is/was a member of the NRA-Life, THA-Life, TSRA, IALEFI, ILEETA, and NSSF-Life. He holds an A.A. in Security Administration from the Community College of the Air Force, an A.A. in Business Management from Wayland Baptist University, a B.S. in Occupational Education from Wayland Baptist University, and a Master of Business Administration from Our Lady of the Lake University.

Craig Porter

P3TC Instructor

Craig D. Porter Has a B.A in Mathematics/Physics from the University of South Dakota and M.S. in Mathematics/ Statistics from Montana State University, he has participated in Post Graduate Studies at the University of Iowa and Wright State University. He has been on the teaching staff for several colleges (part-tiime). Mr. Porter is a National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) Level 3 coach and has been coaching shotgunners for over 25 years. He is also on the NRA/USA Shooting National Coach Development Staff for Shotgun as well as a NRA/USA Shooting National Advanced Certified Shotgun Coach. He has extensive experience with competitive shooting and has managed over 50 tournaments including the Texas State Sporting Clays shoot. He is a NRA CRSO. Refuse to Be a Victim® and Training Counselor. In addition to managing competitive shoots, he has conducted shooting schools for both Remington and Beretta. Mr. Porter has over forty years of experience in weapon effects modeling, Soldier Systems modeling and analysis, and Counter-Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) systems development. At DARPA, developed distributed systems for training a wide variety of combat functions and developed CONOPS for USAF, ARMY and Marines. Mr. Porter is a past Director of the Military Operations Research Society and a recipient of that organization’s Barchi and Rist prizes. While on active duty in the U.S. Army, he was an instructor at the Field Artillery School, Ft. Sill, OK, Division Ammunition Officer 2nd Infantry Division and an Operations Research Officer supporting weapons development at Rock Island Arsenal. Mr. Porter is a life member of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), a Benefactor NRA life member, and is also a life member of the ATA, NSCA, NSSA, and TSRA.

Nathan Dee

P3TC Instructor

Nathan Dee is a retired U.S. Marine, the P3TC Private Security Program Manager, and an NRA Basic Pistol, Basic Rifle, CCW, License To Carry Handgun, Private Security Program, Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events, U.S Concealed Carry Association Instructor, and is an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer.

He spent 14 years in the Marines with three combat deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq, and multiple deployments to humanitarian crises around the world. Nathan has experience as a logistics and embarkation chief, ground safety officer, weapons instructor, and police tactics advisor during his deployments. He helped setup the first Iraqi Police training academies. After retirement, Nathan completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology degree with a Teaching Licensure, teaching middle and high school science and math.

When Nathan is not training people, he trains service animals for wounded veterans, assists with equine therapy for veterans, and is a peer mentor for the Wounded Warrior Project.

Charles Marcus

P3TC Instructor

Charles Marcus is the P3TC Law Enforcement Program Manager and an NRA Basic Pistol, Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Classroom and Firearms, Private Security, License To Carry Handgun, and a Self-Defense Instructor.

Prior to P3TC, Charles served on the San Antonio Police Department for 31 years raising to the rank of Detective. He has extensive training and experience and currently holds several certifications: Hunter Education Area Chief, DWI/SFST Instructor, Intoxilyzer Operator, 8th Dan Black Belt in Chung Do-Kwan, Active Citizen (A-Ride) Program, and a State Certified Mental Health Officer.

Charles’ extensive training includes SWAT shooting school, less-lethal force, narcotic testing, photography, and continues to serve as an active Texas Peace Officer.

Jerry Adams

P3TC Instructor

Jerry Adams brings wisdom to P3TC faculty and staff. Born in 1947, Jerry was orphaned at the age of 10 and placed into the care of Boles Children’s Home located in Quinlan, Texas. He was instructed at a very early age in the use of firearms by experienced WWII Veterans, and regularly went “varmint” hunting and deer hunting. All the deer harvested went on the table at the Home. While at Boles Home, Jerry was exposed to Vocational Printing as a class in High School. Seeing that printing had NO COWS, was INDOORS, had AIR-CONDITIONING he chose to pursue Graphic Arts / Printing as his vocation. He attended East Texas State University (Now Texas A&M Commerce) graduating in 1973 with a B.S. In Printing Management; working for nearly 45 years in the industry before retiring in 2007. Jerry maintained his love and respect for firearms and was a regular “fun” shooter. After his retirement from printing, he become certified to teach firearms safety, crime avoidance, and personal protection. He is certified by the NRA to teach Chief Range Safety Officer, Home Firearms Safety, Basic Pistol, Basic Rifle, Refuse To Be A Victim® (a crime avoidance class), Personal Protection In The Home, and Personal Protection Outside The Home, and is a certified NRA Pistol Coach. He is also certified by the State of Texas as a License to Carry Handgun (LTC) Instructor. For several years Jerry was appointed by the Constable of Precinct 3 as a Firearms Instructor, and served the Constable’s Office as a Commissioner of the Civilian Advisory Board, and was a Private security Program certified Classroom and Firearms Instructor. Jerry currently is associated with Prevent-Prepare-Protect Training and Consulting, a NON-Profit dedicated to teaching Security Officers, Law Enforcement Officers, and civilians appropriate skills needed for personal protection. Jerry currently serves as Training Coordinator and Firearms Instructor with P3TC.

Frank Payette

P3TC Instructor

Frank is a retired Air Force veteran/civil servant (former radio mechanic).  He left federal service to pursue his lifelong interest in firearms and a career in the firearms industry.  Experienced in the used, repair, manufacturing and sales of firearms, he later became a firearms instructor.  He is currently  NRA Basic Pistol Instructor, Home Firearms Safety Instructor, Range Safety Officer, and Refuse To Be A Victim® Instructor, License to Carry Instructor, Level III Firearms Instructor.  Holds an A.S. in Firearms Technology from Sonoran Desert Institute; A.A. in Electronic Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force; B.S. (Major: Electronic Systems Technology/Minor: Business Administration) Wayland Baptist University;  and Prevent-Prepare-Protect Training and Consulting (P3TC) graduate.

ART WACHDORF

P3TC Instructor

Art Wachdorf retired as a Colonel from the USAF after over 26 years of active-duty service.  During his time in the Air Force, he flew fighters and during the last third of his career he was involved in cyber warfare.  After retiring, from active duty, he continued to be involved in cyber warfare with industry and returned to Air Force service when the AF stood up its cyber command.

After retiring in 2021, he has served as a NRA rifle and pistol instructor as well as being certified Range Safety Officer.  He is also certified as a Texas LTC instructor.  He regularly shoots a variety of pistols and rifles. 

Matt Thompson

P3TC Instructor

Matt Thompson is a long time Texan; his roots go back to the 1850’s when his family settled here originally in Paris, TX. Matt has been an avid outdoorsman since his early years as a child. He is an accomplished survivalist who has rafted some of the most dangerous rivers in North America while many times incorporating these adventures into hunting & fishing trips. Matt loves to treasure hunt in every aspect you can imagine and studies history regularly to improve his chances of recovering something notable. Most of Matt’s time is currently focused on practicing real estate as a Texas Licensed REALTOR®. Becoming a REALTOR® is a move back towards his roots. In his youth starting at nine years of age, he began apprenticing for the family construction company under the direct training of his father. Through the years of building & development, his business acumen grew Matt was able to combine his love of the trades and his appetite for adrenaline-fueled activities landing him into a world conducting surveillance, undercover work and investigations. It didn’t stop there as he could further afford the shooting sports, he found himself investing a lot more time further developing his firearm skills including competing in matches with pistol, rifle, shotgun, archery, and black powder. In 2006, Matt found his new addiction, training and working with others, and learning how to gunsmith. Matt’s unique and highly successful approach to educating people including young children about firearms and shooting sports as well as self-defense. Many people have said Matt’s high-speed low drag approach to life drove him to the successes he has obtained and for two decades, he diligently worked to pass forward those attributes. Matt has many certifications however his ability to coach people is his greatest asset. He firmly believes in measurable results. Whether you are brand new or a confident shooter he consistently instills greatness in his clients. In addition to training and real estate, Matt also conducts criminal investigations for Larry Bloomquist your Texas Law Shield area attorney. He also specializes in family affairs such as end-of-life planning, estate sales, etc. for families. Matt is also licensed as a Texas State PPO (Personal Protection Officer/Bodyguard). Tim Koebke

P3TC Instructor

Tim Koebke is a seasoned firearm enthusiast with over five decades of shooting experience, certified by the NRA to teach Basic Pistol, Basic Rifle, and Basic Shotgun. Tim is also certified by the NRA as a Range Safety Officer. His knowledge and experience using firearms for hunting, stationary and moving (clay) targets, and mentoring for self-defense, covers Revolvers and Pistols – single-action, double-action, semi-automatic; Shotguns – pump/slide-action, semi-automatic, break-action; Rifles – bolt-action, semi-automatic, lever-action. Associated with P3TC as a Firearms Instructor, he enjoys training and guiding new and enthusiast shooters; covering the ethical and responsible use of firearms, safe gun handling, the fundamental skills that improve marksmanship for shooting sports (i.e., target, skeet) and hunting, proper cleaning, precautionary storage, and more. Tim’s native languages are English (USA) and Spanish (Latin American & Castilian), with full conversational and extensive business/technical knowledge in both. Professionally, he has over 40 years of combined work experience in business, engineering, agriculture and animal husbandry, encompassing a broad range of specialties, such as, the assessment of business and technical operations in US and Latin American organizations; task organization and improvement of operational processes; development of technical procedures; implementation of training programs; manufacturing quality controls; sustaining accreditations of Testing Labs (e.g., OSHA Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory) and manufacturer Inspection Agencies; as well as, Quality Assurance inspections of manufacturing processes/products requiring approval by Authorities Having Jurisdiction (e.g., Unites States Coast Guard Lifesaving and Fire Safety Division). Mr. Koebke holds an A.A.S in Electronics from San Antonio College, a B.A.A.S. Summa Cum Laude from the University of the Incarnate Word, and a Master of Science in Management with emphasis in Project Management from Colorado Technical University.

Angelique Salas

P3TC Instructor

Angelique is the Chief of Staff, a Chief Range Safety Officer, and Instructor at Prevent-Prepare-Protect Training and Consulting (P³TC). She is Instructor certified in NRA Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, CCW, and Refuse To Be A Victim®. Angelique has decades of experience in leadership, project management, sales, marketing, and business management. She is an author and speaker/presenter with a passion for taking boring or difficult subjects and breaking them down to be exciting and understood. When Angelique was not teaching and traveling around the world, she ran a program for youth, ages 8-18, and continues to give back to her community and Veteran’s organizations.

 

Dan Graeber

P3TC Instructor

Dan Graeber is a seasoned Firearms Instructor, NRA Training Counselor, First Aid Instructor, Ropes Course facilitator, and an Applications Engineer in the A/V world primarily working with Operations Centers. Dan has been training for over 26 years. Before going full time into business for himself and joining the National Protective team, Dan was the Worldwide Training Manager for Clarity Visual Systems. He has had the opportunity to travel the world, extensively in Europe, training mechanical skills, trouble shooting, problem solving, and engineering. Dan is a very successful team leader and “crisis manager” on an as needed basis domestically and overseas. The successes of his international training experiences give Dan some very unique understandings of how people accrue data and hence “learn”. Dan has worked with various executive protection/operational groups. He has developed shooting curriculum for advanced and intermediate shooters. Dan continues to work with Boy Scouts, Venture’s, and other youth groups as often as he can; developing tomorrow’s leaders. Dan is an Eagle Scout, Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, NRA life member, and TSRA active member.

Lacie Douthitt

P3TC Instructor

Lacie Douthitt is a highly skilled and experienced Instructor, recognized for her expertise and dedication to combatives in the discipline of Jujitsu and firearm safety and education. With a wealth of hands-on experience on the range, she has honed her skills not only in shooting but also in effectively teaching others. Having earned her NRA certifications through P³TC, she is passionate about empowering others with the knowledge and confidence needed to handle firearms safely and responsibly.

 

Her journey from victim to a formidable P³TC Instructor is marked by numerous self-defense, shooting, and coaching certifications, all aimed at equipping others with the skills they need to protect themselves and their loved ones. Lacie firmly believes that self-protection is a continuous practice — encouraging others to introduce themselves into training at a Jui jitsu gym, frequent a shooting range, and relentlessly practice the techniques they intend to use. Her mission is to inspire both men and women to take proactive steps in securing their safety, ensuring that they are prepared for any situation that life may throw at them, or their family.

Jason 'Gus' Gushanas

P3TC Instructor

Jason (Gus) Gushanas is a retired U.S. Army Military Police First Sergeant, having dedicated 22 years to distinguished service. Throughout his career, he held various roles in law enforcement, corrections, and emergency management across the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Jason completed multiple deployments to Iraq and Kosovo, where he collaborated with host nation law enforcement, patrolled urban areas, managed correctional facilities, and provided vital force protection.

In his leadership capacity, Jason served as the First Sergeant of a Military Police organization within a task force conducting Defense Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Response Force (DCRF) operations. He also held the position of Senior Instructor for the U.S. Army Military Police Senior Leader Course and First Sergeant of a Military Police initial entry training company. His most recent military roles included Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Provost Marshal (Police Chief) and Anti-terrorism Officer at both Camp Humphreys in Korea and Fort Sam Houston in Texas.

Jason’s extensive training encompasses a wide range of skills, including criminal intelligence analysis, anti-terrorism, small arms master marksmanship, evasive driving, domestic violence intervention, senior military police staff operations, physical security, incident command, sexual harassment and assault response prevention, and equal opportunity. Jason holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Purdue University Global and an Associate’s degree from Central Texas College. Additionally, he is certified as a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt.

In recognition of his exceptional service, Jason has earned numerous awards, including the prestigious Military Police Order of the Marechausee, the Army Instructor Badge, the German Army Weapons Qualification Badge, the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and Distinguished Honor Graduate of the Military Police Senior Leader Course. He also completed the first U.S. Army’s Master Leader Course.

Since retiring, Jason has earned multiple first aid instructor certifications through the American Red Cross, including First Aid, CPR, AED, Basic Life Support (BLS), First Aid for Severe Trauma, and Life-Threatening Bleeding. He also holds certifications for Stop the Bleed and BLS from the American Heart Association. Furthermore, Jason is a certified Basic Pistol Instructor and Range Safety Officer through the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Jason is an active member of the Texas Handgun Association and holds lifetime memberships with the NRA, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Military Police Regimental Association.
